Anaesthesiology & Critical Care

Intensive/Critical care unit at IMDC is staffed by a multidisciplinary team that consists of but not limited to intensivists (clinicians who specialize in critical illness care); pharmacists and nurses; respiratory care therapists; and other medical consultants from a broad range of specialties including surgery, pediatrics and anesthesiology. A complex assortment of monitors and life-support equipment are available to offer non-invasive ventilator support such as CPAP, (continuous positive airway pressure); BiPAP (Bilevel positive airway pressure) and invasive ventilator support such as SIMV (synchronized intermittent mandatory ventilation mode) and also to treat critically ill patients, patients requiring intensive monitoring, trauma cases as well as cases with adult respiratory distress syndrome, kidney failure, multiple organ failure and sepsis. A fully equipped NICU is also available for paediatric cases needing critical care.
